AO3 exchanges and a lot of Big Bangs/reverse bing bangs are really good at advertising on fandom calendar, and there's flashexchanges, but things like character weeks I just miss entirely. I don't have a tumblr, which you often need to have, and they're not advertised on DW anyway, so I only see them when they show up in tags on AO3.
